
There is an interesting paper from Reinhart and Rogoff : see here on how in some countries the effects of banking crises can be very long lasting and deep. Just in case you hadnt noticed.
The picture is of IRish GDP per capita growth in 1990 $. Up to 2010 its taken from the Maddison database and I then updated.
Among their findings are
a significant part of the costs of these crises lies in the protracted and halting nature of the recovery. On average it takes about eight years to reach the pre-crisis level of income; the median is about 6 ½ years.
