Irish Business Schools – Rankings 2015

Rankings are like the closing days of Gay Byrne’s tenure in the Late Late Show. There is one for everybody in the Audience. A new ranking has been gaining ground recently, Eduniversal Ranking, based mostly on interviews. Irish Business Schools are doing quite well.

Its ranking methodology is given here, and summarised as below. In essence its 33.3% salary bump to first job, 33.3% student satisfaction and 33.3% employer survey. Both UCD and TCD business schools are recognized as “universal business schools with strong global influence”, DIT, UL, UCC and DCU are noted as “EXCELLENT business school with reinforcing international influence”.

In terms of individual business school masters rankings see the table below. I have not shown all – there are some areas, like Food Management where UCC rank highly, where specialisation clearly has paid off. In general most schools have some pockets of ranked quality. The notable exceptions are Maynooth and NUIG for whom I did not find any masters rankings.

The rankings below are for masters programs in Western Europe. The website seems to be in the process of ranking globally but for the moment this is what I can find.

Once again there is a clear distance between the “blue riband” MBA programmes, with TCD romping away. As I have noted before, we are lucky in having top class globally recognised business education in Ireland, but the notion that there should be only one, and that in Blackrock, that simply does not stack up to any evidence….
